HHMI's new research facility, Janelia Farm Research Campus, opened in September of 2006. With the opening of the campus, VSA worked with the leadership of JFRC to create an intranet for scientists that would enable them to work seamlessly within the infrastructure of the campus as well as collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on the site.

As the campus provided on-site living, it was important for the intranet to accommodate many of the day to day needs of the research teams as well as the professional needs. At the time of the re-design process, only a few scientists had begun work at the center. It was therefore important for the intranet to help acclimate new professionals on the site as well as acquire feedback to evolve with the facility.
